These are original British Army issue combination spanners for the .303" Hotchkiss Mk1 machine gun. These tools are in used but very good condition and are marked with a 'Broad Arrow' government acceptance mark. A rarely found accessory for a little remembered machine gun. The guns originally served through the First WW and remained in limited service until probably the late 1920s. After this they were put into store for 'future eventualities' (a phrase that current British politicians do not seem to favour, or indeed to have heard of!). The future eventualities arrived in 1939 with the outbreak of the Second WW. The guns were then brought out of store, refurbished, and then mostly issued to the Home Guard. Stock No 17/67.
