A fascinating 'in depth' study of the developments and production of the Sterling Company of Dagenham, Essex. First involved in weapon production in 1940, the Company made Lanchester sub machine guns throughout WW2 and at the same time developed the Patchett SMG's which later became the world famous 'Rolls Royce' of SMG's, the 9mm Sterling L2A3. The relatively short life of the Company's small arms production is well documented here by Peter Laidler. The book is co-authored by David Howroyd, the apprentice who rose to become the Works Manager of Sterling Armament Company and eventually Works Director and is therefore uniquely qualified to tell the full story. As always with Peter Laidlers books not only is the book rich in technical detail but it is also eminently readable. 310 pages with 371 illustrations consisting of line drawings, sketches and B&W photographs. Hard back with dust jacket. ISBN 0-88935-204-6. Stock No 27/41. PLEASE NOTE: for orders from outside the UK the postage quoted is for SURFACE mail.
