These are original US GI separated case extractors (also known as 'Split Case Extractors' or 'Clearing Plugs') for .50" Browning MGs. These tools are in unused condition (although some display rub marks from being carried in tool rolls). Typically marked 'C7160041 D.M.Co.' around the stem. The extractor is in the form of a solid spring steel tool about 3/4" longer than a fired case, with a 'head' and extractor groove which is the same as a complete round. The body of the tool is slit down the centre with a flange at the same distance from the base as the neck of a fired case. To use the tool it is fed into the chamber as a live round would be. The slit in the body is squeezed together as it passes through the neck of the seperated case and springs out again once the tip has passed right through. The gun is then cocked, pulling the tool from the chamber. The flange then catches the open neck of the seperated case and pulls it from the chamber. Stock No 46/10.
