This is an original Belgian Sniper telescopic sight for the 7.62mm Belgian FN FAL rifle. The sight is complete with its original FN 'top cover' mount and the unique 'flexible ring' scope rings. This sight is unique to Belgium in that the telescope is mounted so that it lies along the left side of the rifle when mounted, rather that the usual solution of placing the telescope on the top of the rifle. The sight is factory finished in a slate grey paint, which other than a few minor chips and scratches is in very good condition. The top cover mount is a purpose made steel pressing with the mounting rail rivetted in place. It is finished in the usual black 'Parkerised' finish which is in excellent condition. The telescope is optically very good, light polishing marks on the surface of the object glass and eyepiece being the only 'defect'. The graticule is in the form of a verticle post with a pointed tip, either side are horizontal lines radiating from the edge towards the centre but not meeting it, these have short 'lead marks', and there is a short verticle line which drops down towards the centre from 12 o'clock (see picture). There is a sliding ray sheild around the front of the telescope, which when extended comes to 22mm forward of the object glass. At the rear of the telescope there is a simple synthetic rubber eyesheild which appears to be just a piece of rubber tube, but when removed from the sight is actually moulded inside to provide a snug fit over the eyepiece.
There are 2 turrets to provide zeroing. The side turret adjusts line and the top turret adjusts elevation. In addition the top turret has a click stop range scale which can be adjusted by hand and can be set from 0 to 800m. The sight is specifically designed to fit metric FN FALs, but should, with little or no adjustment to the fit of the top cover, fit L1A1 SLR, the ammunition being the same the range settings on the telescope should be identical. Postage on this telescope is quite high, but this is because I have included postal insurance in the price for the protection of both myself and the purchaser. This telescope is illustrated in Blake Stevens book 'The Metric FAL' (by Collector Grade Publications). See page 227, Fig 155. Stock No 36/5.
