These are original striker retaining screws for all Lee Enfield Rifles utilising the No4 series receiver, including Nos 7, 8 & 9 .22" Training Rifles and all 7.62mm modified Rifles.

The screw fits in the end of the cocking piece and by virtue of the head sitting in the half moon cut out in the end of the striker, prevents the striker from unscrewing itself. This screw also fits the special to type cocking piece on the .22" No8 rifle.

There are several variations of head form and shape, but it would appear that as long as the thread was the correct length and size and the diameter of the screw head was correct, that manufacturers were given latitude in the form of the head. There is no apparent 'early' or 'late' types, they all appear to have been in use concurrently.

These screws are all in unissued or very good condition with good screw slots. Finishes vary, although the majority seem to have a black painted finish.
