Lee Enfield SMLE Rifle No.1 & Variants Spares
In this sub-section you will find a selection of non FAC spares specific to the .303" Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) and other marks and variants of the Rifle No1.
The SMLE was first introduced into service in 1903, and the most common version, the MkIII (later the MkIII*) was first manufactured in 1907. The rifle served throughout WW1 and was still front line issue with the British and most Commonwealth armies in 1941 when it was gradually surplanted by the .303" No4 Rifle in British units. It was manufactured in the UK, Australia and India and a few were even made in Nepal. Production of the MkIII & MkIII* Rifles amounted to more than 6,705,000 units. In 1926 the SMLE was renamed the Rifle No1.
The majority of the spares listed will be specific to the No1 MkIII or III* rifles. Where a part is common to other rifles in the series this will be included in the item title or description where known. If you are not sure please check with us before ordering and we will try to help.
Most of the spares listed here will be (where possible) in new and unissued condition. Where they are part worn (usually recovered from rifles) or where doubt exists as to whether they are new or not, this will be included in the item description.
Because we cannot be aware of your individual level of knowledge or expertise in the repair or restoration of rifles (live or de-activated) and have no control over where and how you will use them, we cannot be held responsible for any damage, injury or harm which may occasion from your purchase of these items and subsequent use or misuse of them.
We always advocate caution when working on firearms, whether 'live' or otherwise. ALWAYS make sure that the weapon is unloaded and SAFE before starting any work, and above all if in doubt DON'T! If you are not 100% certain please consult a qualified Armourer or gunsmith who is familiar with the weapon before starting work.
