• STEN Cocking Handle, Mk5 (Repro)

These are new made Mk5 Cocking Handles for the 9mm STEN M.C.

These are machined from solid steel and have a chemically blackened finish. These examples are in as new condition.

These cocking handles will fit all marks of STEN fitted with a Mk1*, or later, breech block providing that the casing has been modified by having a locating hole drilled through.

Announced as an 'Immediate' modification to all STEN Machine Carbines on 15th April, 1944, this mark of cocking handle enabled the working parts of the gun to be locked in the forward position ensuring that the gun was safe to carry. To lock the working parts forward the cocking handle was pushed down into the breech block, which forced the 1/4" diameter (approx 6mm) projection on the end of the cocking handle through the hole drilled in the gun casing. The rib on the cocking handle rides over a ring on the end of the return spring retaining it in position, either in or out. To release the breech block the cocking the handle was pulled out by approx. 3/16ths of an inch (5mm) moving the projection clear of the hole in the casing of the gun and allowing the working parts to be pulled back to cock the gun.

These cocking handles will NOT fit Denix replica Stens without modifications to the replica or the cocking handle. Please note that this is contrary to what we previously believed having physically checked with a current manufacture Denix Sten.
