These are original trials pattern slings for the original 9mm Patchett Machine Carbine, the gun which was later developed into the famous Sterling Sub Machine Gun.

These slings are made from converted unissued STEN slings (original WW2 manufacture, by various companies, and dated from 1943 to 1945). The modification consists of the removal of the 'pig tail' attachment and its replacement by a blackened spring gate 'dog clip', which has a split through the loop to allow it to be fitted to the sling without having to re-stitch the webbing.

These slings are in unissued condition. For further details see Peter Laidler's 'The Guns Of Dagenham', Chapter 16, Fig 355. Limited stocks.
