These are Clearing Plugs - also known as Separated Case Extractors, or Split Case Extractors, for use with the Russian 7.62 x 54R cartridge.

This cartridge is a venerable survivor, having first appeared in the 1890's, and is still in front line use more than 100 years on in such weapons as the PKM MG and Dragunov Sniper Rifle.

The clearing plug is of a standard design and works exactly as other calibre examples which can be found on this website. These are of original military manufacture from Eastern Europe, although they are unmarked.
