These are original Magazine Catches for the 9mm Lanchester Sub-Machine Carbine.

The catches are fitted vertically at the rear of the magazine housing. They consist of a shaft with a broad flat head, knurled or stamped to provide a non slip top face. The shaft passes through the magazine housing and screws into the Catch itself. A coil spring in the magazine housing (not provided) gives spring tension, holding the catch in it's up position, where it clicks into a notch on the underside of the magazine and holding it into the gun. To release the magazine, the thumb is used to press the head of the catch down against the spring pressure and allowing the magazine to be withdrawn from it's housing.

The Magazine Catch is a simple and effective design and was later used, virtually unchanged, for the Patchett Carbines and the subsequent Sterling Sub Machine Guns.

The catches are in good and serviceable condition, although there is some damage to the finish on some pieces.
