These are original, as new, unissued, sear springs for the No.4 rifle. These are universal items that are also correct for the No1 Mk3 & 3* (SMLE), the No.5 Jungle Carbine and the 7.62mm L42A1 Sniper rifle and the L39A1 Target rifle.

This spring acts as both the sear spring and the magazine catch spring.

WARNING: Changing the sear spring MAY change your trigger pressure. This may prove especially noticeable if you are replacing a very worn spring. In the vast majority of cases if it is going to change your trigger pressure it will increase it. Before live firing any rifle after changing the spring please ensure that you test the trigger operation thoroughly by dry firing the weapon several times before attempting to live fire it. If in any doubt check the correct reassembly of the trigger mechanism with technical publications or a competent Armourer or gunsmith before taking the weapon on a range.
