These are original Butt Plate Screws for the SMLE Rifle No1 MkIII & III*.

Although the screw head is similar to the No4 Butt Plate Screw, these screws are special to the SMLE and of quite different form to the later No4 version.

These screws are in excellent condition, many of them new and unissued, although some a recovered examples with little or no wear. All screw slots are well defined and undamaged. Please note that a feature of these screws was the somewhat narrow slot for the screwdriver and so when fitting them it is possible that a screwdriver may need to be specially filed or ground to fit the screw heads properly.
