These are original 'Straight Pattern' rubber eyeshields for L2A1 and L2A2 Sight Unit Infantry Trilux sights, better known as SUIT Sights.

These eyesheilds have been carefully removed from original equipment at some time in the past but are in very good condition. Although they may have occasional marks or scuffs they are all flexible, free from tears or splits and are not 'sticky', indicating that the rubber is not breaking down.

These eyesheilds are designed and designated as 'adhesive mounted' meaning that they are designed to be retained in place on the sight by a blob of silicone adhesive (Silcoset 315) placed in the 6 o'clock position beneath the eyepiece which the eyeshield is then fitted over by gently stretching it into position. They are sometimes found fitted with a strip steel clip retaining them, but this was by no means common and is something done more usually late in their service. This clip is not listed in any parts lists that I have been able to locate - and no, I do not have any of them!
