These are original Sling Swivels for the SMLE, Rifle No1 Mk III & III*, and also for the P14, Rifle No3 (all marks).

These original swivels are offset and are designed so that they are fitted with the longer side of the loop on the right side of the rifle (as viewed from the butt). This feature was so that when the rifles were used for long range firing using the volley sights (which were fitted to the left side of the rifles) the sling would not hang in the line of sight.

These original sling loops have been recovered from service rifles and as such may have wear to the finish and various small dings and knocks but they are all in generally good condition and are servicable. Most are marked with a Government 'Broad Arrow' ownership mark but no other markings to indicate date of manufacture or origin.
