These are our own reproduction back plates for the Mk5 STEN Machine Carbine.

The back plates were made so that the butt of the Mk5 STEN could be removed, either for transit, or at times when space or handiness procluded the butt being fitted (air drop containers or leg bags, Dispatch Riders, AFV crews etc) but the weapon might be needed to be fired immediately, but without the possibility of the working parts being spat straight out of the back of the gun with disasterous consequences! It also provided a rear sling attachment point so that the gun could be slung without the butt fitted.

Made from heavy gauge plate steel, these are a direct copy of an original pattern and fit the STEN in the same way as the butt would. These will fit all marks of the STEN, but were specifically produced for the Mk5, with it's rear pistol grip making it a viable proposition to shoot without the butt fitted.
