• .30" Browning MG, Firing Pin Protrusion Gauge (US Issue)

These are original, US GI, Firing Pin Protrusion Gauges for Browning .30" machine guns M1917A1 and M1919A4.

These ground flat plate gauges are of the 'GO' 'NO GO' type. They are used to measure the amount that the tip of the firing pin protrudes through the breech block. If it is too short it will not guarantee that the percussion cap is struck enough to fire the round, if it is too long it may pierce the percussion cap allowing hot gasses to flood back through the breech block damaging the gun and causing injury to the firer.

For markings see attached picture. Please note that the apparent staining seen on some of the gauges in the picture is in fact traces of preservative grease.

Condition of these gauges is used but excellent. Unit of sale 1 gauge. US Part No 7319929. Stock No BMG9.

NOTE; As with all gauges of uncertain age and useage, although these would appear to be almost new we do not guarantee these to be within specification or calibration and therefore they should be regarded as collectors curios only.
