These are original 2nd pattern, Mk1 Fore Sight Protectors for Lee Enfield No.4 series Rifles. This pattern is compatible with and common to Rifles No.4 and 4(T) and the 7.62mm NATO chambered L42A1 Sniper Rifle.

These are machined from a solid steel forging and are not the Mk2 fabricated type. The very earliest of these (as fitted to the trials rifles) were shaped or 'waisted', these are the flat sided 'production' version. Each one is supplied with the correct pattern of securing screw (not illustrated).
